Basics of woodworking

If you want to understand wood, learn how to work with tools, and gain solid craft foundations, this course is for you. It is ideal for beginners as well as slightly advanced participants who want to move forward – gain confidence when working with wood, improve technique, and understand the processes that lead to higher-quality results. 🔧 What you will learn 1. Wood and its behavior - differences between solid wood, plywood, MDF, and chipboard - hardwood vs. softwood, grain direction, drying, and stability - how grain orientation affects strength and final surface quality 2. Tools and machines - working with hand tools: saws, chisels, planes, hammers - using power tools: drill, jigsaw, sander, router - safe work on basic woodworking machines (demonstration and practice) - how to recognize a sharp vs. dull tool and what it means in practice - trying cutting, drilling, sanding, and routing on practice pieces 3. Woodworking joints - screw joints, dowel joints, biscuit joints, mortise and tenon, tongue and groove - which joint is the easiest for beginners - practical gluing, doweling, and joining of two boards 4.
