Service Description

If you want to understand wood, learn to work with tools, and build a solid craft foundation, this course is for you. It’s ideal for beginners and intermediate makers who want to level up — gain confidence when working with wood, improve their technique, and understand the processes that make the final result higher quality. What you’ll learn 1. Wood and how it behaves - differences between solid wood, plywood, MDF, and particleboard - hard vs. soft wood, grain direction, drying, and stability - how grain orientation affects strength and surface finishing 2. Tools and machines - working with hand tools: saws, chisels, planes, hammers - using power tools: drill, jigsaw, sander, router - safe operation of basic woodworking machines (demo + hands-on) - how to recognize a sharp vs. dull tool and what it means in practice - practice cuts, drilling, sanding, and routing on sample pieces 3. Wood joints - screw joints, dowels, biscuits, mortise and tenon, tongue and groove - which joints are easiest for beginners - practical gluing, doweling, and joining two boards 4. Surface finishing - oil, wax, varnish, stain — what to use and when - proper surface preparation (sanding, cleaning, dust removal) - differences between sandpapers - testing finishes on small samples - safety and ergonomics when sanding - proper bench height, tool grip, material clamping - the most common beginner mistakes and how to avoid them Course format - 6-hour course (3 hours morning + 3 hours afternoon) - mix of explanation, demonstrations, and hands-on practice - small groups: max. 8 participants for individual guidance - you’ll work on practice pieces of wood - all tools and materials provided on-site Next date January 31, 2026 Saturday: 10:00 – 17:00 Price includes - all materials: wood, joinery elements, oils, varnishes, legs, accessories… - professional equipment (Festool saws, routers, orbital sanders…) - refreshments: premium coffee, tea, fruit, and snacks (lunch not included) Course price: €160
