course 1
Service Description
Learn to Think Like a Woodworker. If you want to truly understand wood, learn the fundamental principles, try both hand and power tools, and grasp what woodworking really involves — this course is for you. It’s ideal for beginners and slightly advanced makers who want to move to a higher craft level, gain confidence when working with wood, improve their technique, and better understand the processes that lead to higher-quality results. The course is primarily theoretical, complemented by practical demonstrations (approx. 70% theory / 30% practice). All your questions will be answered. What will you learn? 1. Woodworking materials - Differences between solid wood, plywood, MDF, and particle board. - Why is “hardwood” sometimes softer than “softwood”? - Wood movement, defects, and cracking. - Pros and cons of sheet materials. - Where to buy materials. 2. Measuring, marking, and cutting - When does it pay off to be 100% precise — and when not? - Pencil, mechanical pencil, marker, or knife? - Why do two tape measures not measure the same? - How to check for a right angle. - Hand sawing vs. machine cutting. 3. Joinery - What’s the best way to join my project? - Which screws are unsuitable? - Is glue stronger than wood? 4. Sanding and finishing - How and what to sand with. - Interior vs. exterior finishes. - Oil, stain, varnish, wax — how to navigate the options. - What’s best to start with. 5. What’s next? - Where and how to practice. - What tools to buy and where. - Recommended YouTube and Instagram channels. Course format Duration: 8-hour course (4 hours in the morning + 4 hours in the afternoon). Method: Combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
